Get ready as I share with you these 5 things that you must not do when you are in Singapore.

Nowadays, it can’t be denied that a lot of people have started traveling abroad—some as a graduation gift, birthday trip, or just a simple getaway. Singapore is one of the top countries that a lot of Filipinos visit, why? Because there’s no need to apply for a visa, and they speak English, which is essential.

From my visit to Singapore last year, I have noticed a lot of things that we just normally do here in the Philippines that are not allowed in Singapore. Yes! You heard me right. I have listed here five things you must not do when in Singapore.

  1. No to Durians in the Public. As much as we want to, Singapore discourages bringing durians in public like in the parks, trains, or buses.
  2. No to spitting and throwing of garbage anywhere. No wonder their country is spotless.
  3. Don’t eat anywhere. Avoid eating or drinking in public places like trains and buses if you don’t want to be fined $500.
  4. No need to tip. There is no need to give a tip after eating at a restaurant in Singapore. This is because it is already included in the bill. You can check out the receipt and find “GST” (goods and services tax and “service charge”)
  5. No chewing gums. Chewing gums are banned in the country, Yes! You heard me right! This is for the reason that it can leave stains and marks on pavements and walls if not properly disposed.

There’s no wonder why Singapore is one of the cleanest countries in Asia and the 5th cleanest in the world. Remembering these 5 things that you must not do when visiting Singapore will surely save you from trouble during your stay in the country.
